Sherm, with his wife Tawny, moved to Rotonda West in 1994 from Gloucester, Massachusetts. After graduating from high school, Sherm played minor league baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1963, he received an associates degree in Labor/Business Management from Northeastern University in Boston. After spending 37 years with Massachusetts Electric Company, he retired in 1993 and decided to move to the west coast of Florida.
